Hair loss and hair thinning affects different ages of all genders. Some causes of hair loss include genetics, hormonal changes, psychological stress, childbirth, major surgery, medical conditions, certain medication and aging. Types of Hair Loss includesMale Hair Loss Pattern (androgenic alopecia), Female Hair Loss Pattern (androgenetic alopecia), Hair loss in patches (Alopecia Areata). Lastly, Acute and chronic Hair Loss (Telogen effluvium), is a condition of temporary hair loss that usually happens after stress, a shock, or a traumatic event.

In the TCM perspective, main cause of hair loss is blood deficiency. Hence, TCM focuses on the improvement of the functions of the spleen, liver and kidney, which contributes to healthy hair growth.

What to expect?

Each session consists of consultation and acupuncture, duration between 30 minutes to 60 minutes.  On your first visit, the TCM practitioner will evaluate on your hair loss issues by enquiring on your possible triggers such as stress, duration of hair loss, locations of your hair loss and other accompanying symptoms. A diagnosis of the root causes will be given after examining the contributing factors.

What is the frequency of treatment?

It depends on the severity of the hair loss issues and our TCM physician will advise on your first visit.

Typically,

From 1st to 10th session – Twice weekly

From 11th to 20th session, once weekly.

From 20th to 30th session, frequency may be reduced to once a fortnight.
